Look at the 21 century picture who do you see in the minefield. You see medusa, what does she have to do with me? The twenty-first century have brought many land mines, called perilous times into view. In Greek mythology, Medusa was a monster, a Gorgon, generally described as a winged human female with living venomous snakes in place of hair. Those who gazed upon her face would turn to stone. She was a dreadful and fearsome beast. A beautiful mortal, Medusa was the exception in the family, until she incurred the wrath of Athena, either due to her boastfulness or because of an ill-fated love affair with Poseidon. Transformed into a vicious monster with snakes for hair, she was killed by Perseus, who afterward used her still potent head as a weapon, before gifting it to Athena. All of Medusa’s siblings were monsters by birth and, even though she was not, she had the misfortune of being turned into the most hideous of them all. Medusa was depicted with bronze hands and wings of gold. Poets claimed that she had a great boar-like tusk and tongue lolling between her fanged teeth. Writhing snakes were entwining her head in place of hair. Her face was so hideous and her gaze so piercing that the mere sight of her was sufficient to turn a man to stone.
Medusa and all the snakes on her head reminds me of the slow minefield in the picture of the key problems facing the world in the 21st century include overpopulation, human trafficking, war, terrorism and environmental issues. The limited scope of humanitarian aid and lack of global awareness makes the problems continue to grow. Without treatment, world issues can inflate to phenomenal proportions and prove disastrous for both mankind and nature.
Global challenges are interdependent, according to the Millennium Project, and a single improvement in one area can positively affect the status of another. The United Nations currently focuses on energy and climate, global health, women and the population, and maintaining a peaceful world community. Environmental pollution and the drainage of natural resources lead to global warming, and the resulting weather activity affects agriculture. An abundance of human waste and a lack of energy conservation threaten the future health of the world environment by upsetting the natural balance.
Controlling the size of the population is essential to make sure that the Earth’s resources are not expended before they can be replenished in order to maintain enough resources for all. The waste of food in some countries and the lack of food in others contribute to a state of hunger for millions of people. Limiting the creation and use of nuclear weapons is also crucial to protect human rights, stop terrorism and ensure the safety of all people. By promoting higher awareness and proper action in nations worldwide, global issues can be successfully managed and reduced over time. The question is will we have the time.
However, if you know the “TRUTH” John 8:32 King James Version (KJV)
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Psalm 119:105 King James Version (KJV)
105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
The wisest of all wise men said, John 14:6 King James Version (KJV)
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
There is a twenty-first century monster building land fields full of land mines running loose all over the world, looking for those individuals that it can blow their mind. By the way have you checked your state of mind lately? Such as your way of thinking, feeling and believing etc. Your life energy and state of mind, and how you respond to the truth will either make you a casualty, or allow you to survive in the twenty-first century. An individual will react in one of five ways toward a situation, circumstance, condition, or source of danger in the twenty-first century and the land mines of life: they will try to avoid the land mines, they will try to run away or flee, they will try to disable or attack the land mines, or they will just give up and neglect and succumb the land mines of life. This is called the (AFANS) approach. These are also the five courses of action the reactive individual will take to approach any given problem or solution. Upon examination, you will notice that all reactive responses to the environment fall within these five-valued reaction categories. Very complex processes that are below and out of the sight of consciousness will decide which one comes into activation by the environment. The subconscious mind will dictate which one of these subconscious reactions responses will be dominant. Sometimes the proactive state of mind individual will use attack.
Your state of mind has much to do with how you will respond to the environment in the twenty-first century. In spite of the bad news and land mines that the twenty-first century monster will bring, it does have one head with blessing depending on your state of mind. The twenty-first century has one full of blessing and the others full of land mines. Which one you will receive will depend upon how you respond, and the condition of your state of mind and available life energy.
John 10:10 King James Version (KJV)
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
1 Peter 5:8 King James Version (KJV)
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
The devil is your adversary and the 21 century monster is the land mines. You must take your blessings back from the monster.
Romans 12:2 King James Version (KJV)
2 And be not conformed to this world: but are ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
The first thing that we can do when responding to the twenty-first century monster of failure or success is to renew our mind and then attack it with the word of God. There are two kinds of attacks that we can launch against the monster: First, we can use the reactive approach and charge at the monster without thinking before we act, using violence, anger and negative states of mind to get what we want. As a result, get blown up by the land mines because this type of approach will never be successful, the monster will just eat us alive. The best approach is that we can be proactive and attack the twenty-first century monster proactively, with a state of mind that has a plan, enthusiasm, courage, determination, and persistence, then attack it vigorously with a purpose driven mind. Attacking the twenty-first century monster in this way will give you victory and the goods will be yours after conquest.
Next, you can try to flee or run away from the twenty-first century monster by failing to deal with the situation, condition and circumstances. However, you will find, at your own peril, that you are too slow for this monster. Like a roaring hungry lion, you will have nowhere to run and nowhere to hide; it will run you down and slowly eat you alive.
Or, you can try to avoid the twenty-first century monster by trying to escape your obligations and responsibilities, believing that if you avoid them someone else, like the government, your parents, your children, your friends, the lottery, God or death will release you from them. This state of mind is painful, unhappy, and unrewarding. You will experience many land mines blowing up in your face before it is all over.
Maybe you will just neglect the twenty-first century monster and fail to give it the proper or required respect and attention it deserves. You may fail to prepare yourself by not finishing high school, going to college or a trade school, or specializing in a career or not believing and studying the word of God.
You may not have planned your family, maybe had children out of wedlock or before your were emotionally, and financially able to be successful. You may have neglected your body and abused it with alcohol, sex, drugs, etc. If you have no solution for those things above, then you may fill one of the slots in the many prisons and jails that they continue to build, or hospital beds that are in constant demand. You can be sure that the twenty-first century monster’s land field has plenty of mines waiting for you to explode during your life.
Lastly, you just might give up and succumb. You may feel that you are unable to defeat and have victory over the land mines in your life, so you stop trying and let the negative and reactive states of mind take you over completely. You wait to die from someone else’s hands, some illness, or injury. You throw up both hands and surrender to the twenty-first century land mines in your life that keep exploding on you until you die. If this describes your state of mind, then you are just existing and waiting to die, not living. You will be more dead than alive regardless of what age you may be.
